Secure messages

What Secure Messages does

Secure Messages gives a practice a protected channel for conversations with clients. Use it for information that belongs in an authenticated client exchange instead of ordinary email or SMS. Activating the App does not give every employee access: client and messaging permissions still apply.

Set up the App

Open Settings → Apps → Secure Messages and activate the App if it is available for the practice. Review the displayed subscription, permission, and setup requirements. Configure the client-facing invitation or notification text without placing confidential content in the notification itself.

Start and manage a conversation

Open the relevant client and choose the secure-message action. Confirm the correct client before sending. Write only what is necessary, then send the message. Use the conversation status to check whether a message was created or received; do not treat an email notification as proof that the client read the secure message.

Employees can see or send messages only when their role allows access to that client and to the messaging feature. Reassigning or removing client access should also remove access to the related conversation.

Troubleshooting and privacy

If the action is missing, check that the App is active, the client has the required contact and login details, and the signed-in user has permission. If delivery fails, verify the status inside Practize before resending.

Secure-message bodies may contain personal or health information. Do not paste message contents, client identifiers, login links, or attachments into an AI Assistant question. The Assistant can explain how the feature works; this help article does not give it access to secure conversations.
